Located in the village of Kettleshulme, Cheshire, is a great example of alternative thinking.
Carved wood specializes in alternative bespoke kitchen and furniture design, avoiding the standard template of design used by most companies professing to make individual handmade furniture and bespoke kitchen furniture. Beautifully made, entirely by hand, this is the real thing, handmade to perfection. Thats why it looks like nothing else on the market, truly unique, highly personal, a statement of the clients intellect and idiosyncrasies as much as the makers.
Carved wood have been involved in the design and making of beautiful handmade bespoke kitchen furniture and alternative furniture design (functional sculpture) for 25 years, resulting in world wide recognition as specialists in extraordinary bespoke furniture design. Attention to detail is always paramount, all handmade kitchens are of in-frame design with mortice and tenon joints for maximum strength and dovetail joints to all drawer sides. Only solid wood is used throughout the cabinet, even the cabinet backs and drawer bottoms are solid wood.
The creation of beautiful handmade furniture and kitchens is an art. With years of experience in the field of bespoke design, the owner Gareth, considered a furniture artist, ensures the clients every practical need is considered, along with the idea of limitless design possibilities allows the flexibility in creating a truly remarkable bespoke concept. Whether the design is contemporary, sculptural, quirky, classic, country, farmhouse, shaker or avant garde it will be the only one of its kind, a one off specialist concept.
Gareth’s love of the natural world is exemplified in many of the designs and unsurprisingly he has a strong environmental policy, refusing to use tropical woods. All woods are taken from managed forests in the UK and Europe. The bespoke principal also extends to the choice of wood for each individual handmade kitchen and piece of furniture, only beautiful highly figured woods perfectly suited to the design are used.
Although situated in the Peak District National Park in Cheshire, the appeal of Gareth’s design philosophy transcends the geographical location attracting clients from all over the UK and beyond.
