The attic of Berezki a new country house designed by Nikita Zhilyakov, located in Tavatuy, Russia is truly a remarkable interior space. Decorated almost entirely in white, the attic allows natural light to flood in through large windows and has a design that evokes connotations of magic and fairytale. The focal point of the room is a synthetic fireplace which adds a splash of warmth into an otherwise cold color palette. The fireplace instantly catches the eye when you walk into the attic space, and is situated next to piles of wooden logs again adding elements of nature into the room. Rock-like structures are used as seating and circle a small reading table. It seems like the perfect space to unwind after a long day, and one that will provoke feelings of calm and tranquillity.
Living spaces and bedroom area
A second seating area has a more conventional sofa, which is cream in color and is positioned in front of a large plasma television. Net curtains are used to separate individual areas of the attic, such as the bedroom area. These curtains are attached to large white wooden beams, which add a traditional feel to an otherwise very contemporary-looking attic space. Other elements in the room include lanterns, decorative vases and long lampshades which hang from the ceiling. It’s clear that every aspect of the room has been designed for someone who wants to combine the great outdoors with city living.
White wood is again used in a separate kitchen area – both as seats and on the main table in the dining area, and as part of a breakfast bar on the side. The white theme continues here, and can be seen on all kitchen units and appliances. The kitchen even has a white-panelled television screen which has been attached to the wall. Elements of earthy brown have been used to break up the white space, including wicker storage boxes.
